What is a Mentoring Co-Op ?
A mentoring Co-Op or Cooperative is a free resource for Adult Continuing Education. MWM provides the; organization, facilities and initial training as well as a supervising teachers aid for every class.
Our philosophy is that everyone has at least one skill or ability that others can benefit from. Under the supervision of trained educators, our mentors literally get out of it what they put into it. For every hour of Volunteer Time (time spent teaching a class), he or she gets one hour of Mentee Credit . * Minimum 5 hours per month.
In most cases the student literally become the teacher. As a teacher (mentor) accumulates Mentee Credits they can schedule classes with our other mentors in any of the over 25 courses we currently offer (visit Workshop for a complete list). With a commitment of as little as 1 hour and 15 min. a week (of Volunteer Time) you can be trained by experts and professionals in almost any vocational or artistic field you can imagine. Some of our experts could easily charge $50-$100 an hour for their services but you can receive an hour of the same training (non-degree) for just one hour of Volunteer Time.
